Elusive.

Walkers of the shadows.
Since time immemorial.

That is how we have managed to live among mortals.

As drinkers of the blood.
This is a curse that must be kept from mortals.

Least they come and hunt us down.
When heaven's fire is raining down on the lands.

Least.
They come and hound us to give them the dark blood.

But how many.
Are truly ready to carry this secret curse.

To be silent witnesses of time.
To live forever.

Never to know the light of the day ever again.
And to feed on the liquid life of the living.

And so.
That is the reason.
Why we are so elusive.
Until we are relegated as mythical living creatures.

At least we are able to work the dark trick onto mortals.
To befuddle their fragile minds.

So as to protect the secrecy of this curse.

A curse in which we fear will one night.
Fall unto the wrong hands.

And if that happens.
Not even heaven or hell.
Can save anyone.

Blood drinkers and mortals alike.

And so until this night.
We remain in the shadows.

Never to be seen by others.

Watching.
And hunting.
